2022 Australia-Israel Innovation Summit

Oct 20, 2022

Our Israel Innovation Showcase and Networking Reception on October 20 was a wonderful finale to the 3rd annual Australia-Israel Innovation Summit. We are thrilled that our 3 day program reached 700 people at both in-person and virtual events, with more than 30 amazing speakers from both countries sharing their insights on topics including climate tech, cyber security, crypto and decentralised finance, global supply chain innovation and the future of digital health.

Our keynote speaker Prof. Eyal Zimlichman, MD, Chief Transformation Officer and Chief Innovation Officer, at Israel’s Sheba Medical Center, a top 10 global hospital, shared the following in conversation with EY Managing Partner, NSW Andrew Price.

– We are on the cusp of a digitalhealth revolution. 10-20 years from now healthcare will be unrecognisable.
– The need for open innovation. Organisations must shift from focusing on internal innovation and scout for innovation globally to bring into their institutions and hospitals.
– Global partnerships allow access to the best partners around the world.
– “Innovation is a cookbook”. Innovation culture and processes can be built.

Prof. Zimlichman anticipates a diminished role for hospitals in the future as greater care is accessed from the home or community surgical centres. They are already trialling sensors to safely turn the home into a health environment. COVID led to a major uptake in remote care and has made both clinicians and patients more open to alternative treatment, including huge possibilities with virtualreality and augementedreality. Artificial Intelligence is already used daily by every doctor at Sheba, but its increased use in precision medicine will become more mainstream in the future.

Guests also had the opportunity to meet innovative Israeli companies at our Israel Innovation Showcase including Orca Security, Wiliot, Wix.com, Transmit Security, HeraMED Limited, Nano Dimension, CYBERPRO Global, Data Science Group and EasySend. We hope that there will be many wonderful collaborations from the discussions.
