ALISTER Henskens MP laid a wreath with NSW Jewish Board of Deputies CEO Darren Bark at the Commonwealth War Graves Commission in Jerusalem this week.

Henskens, Minister for Science, Innovation and Technology, is currently on an Australia-Israel Chamber of Commerce trade mission in Israel. The objective of the visit is to generate valuable and applicable insights, learnings and connections to power business, health and community outcomes for Western Sydney.

As part of the mission, Henskens joined Bark to remember the fallen Anzacs. “It’s important to remember those who fought – and who still fight – for freedom,” Henskens said. “Even in far-flung lands our fallen WWI Anzacs are remembered, such as here at the Jerusalem Mount Scopus Commonwealth War Cemetery, where I laid a wreath with Darren Bark.
“We will remember them. Lest we forget.”

Henskens also addressed a function at the Australian ambassador’s residence in Israel.

“New South Wales already leads the nation when it comes to science, innovation and technology, and we want to be a world leader like Israel in transforming that research into economic outcomes,” he said.

“I addressed Israeli venture capitalists, start-ups and a Western Sydney business delegation at the ambassador’s residence in Tel Aviv, talking about the benefits of our state’s innovation ecosystem, and what we can learn from our friends in Israel.”
