COVID-19 has accelerated the move to smart buildings with a growing focus on protecting tenant health and wellbeing, achieving building sustainability objectives and creating human-centred building experiences. As landlords and investors grow their adoption of innovative digital solutions within their portfolios, tenants are also seeking out technology-enabled workplaces that support sustainability and efficiency objectives and enhance employee comfort.

Amanda Pieriboni is the Head of Retail Development at Dexus. Amanda has recently delivered several Sydney projects, including 175 Pitt Street, 321 Kent Street, 44 Market Street and Gateway Sydney. Amanda is also managing the development of the mixed-use precinct at the MLC Centre, redeveloping a whole city block in the heard of the city with commercial, retail and entertainment precincts.
She has 25 years’ experience in property development, planning and designing 100,000 square meters of commercial space for large commercial and government clients. As a leader in innovative solutions and customer strategies, she has led several workplace projects, including SuiteX, a flexible workspace offer and evolution of Dexus’s suit strategy that respond to the growing customer demand for flexibility, an award winning, unuique offer in the market.
Jonathan Hannam, Co-Founder & Managing Partner @ Taronga Ventures has held senior executive and board roles across Asia and Europe in real estate, venture capital, technology and infrastructure related investments. In 2015 Jonathan jointly founded Taronga Ventures – a business that was designed to bridge the gap between institutional and corporate owners of real estate and the emerging growth companies that are now targeting the real estate and built environment sectors. In 2018 Real Tech Ventures – Asia’s first VC Fund focused on investing into Real Estate technology was launched and the fund has now made circa 15 investments. The Fund has a global mandate, with a focus on investments that address carbon reduction, renewable energy and sustainability, health and safety as well as emerging asset classes such as co-living. Prior to Taronga, Jonathan was Group Executive, Capital, at Mirvac and in previous roles he was the Portfolio Manager Asia for the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), a Director at AREIM in Sweden and was also Managing Director South East Asia based in Singapore for ING Real Estate.
Louise Monger, Vice President Digital Buildings Schneider Electric Louise has over 20 years’ experience in technical and leadership roles across a range of sectors and disciplines, including real estate, facilities management, and working as an electrician in the mining industry. This diverse experience underpins her passion for how people and technology can shape real estate experiences and improve the world we live in.
Louise joined Schneider Electric in November 2020, as the Vice President Digital Buildings, Australia. Prior to that Louise was at AMP Capital, where she was most recently the Program Director for Technology and Innovation, ensuring delivery of client and business value from technology investment and leading real estate’s digital and innovation team. Prior to that, Louise was the Head of Property Management, accountable for the overall property management performance of the AMP Capital Office & Logistics portfolio. Louise holds a Masters of Facilities Management and remains a qualified electrician.
Ross O’Toole is the Head of Real Estate Technology within Optus Enterprise dealing directly with the Real Estate and Retail industry in the fast-emerging area of Digitisation and Proptech for Smart Buildings.
Joining Optus in 2019, Ross brings more than 20 years of experience with digitised space connectivity, automation and AI, data and digital using IoT technology and emerging 5G technology particularly for use in Commercial Real Estate.
Prior to Optus, Ross has held a range of C-suite roles including new business establishment with Vicinity Centres (formerly Federation Centres), Lend Lease, Macquarie Group, Westfield and AMP Property. He has international Asset Management experience across the globe including Australia, United States, Hong Kong, South Korea, Singapore, China, and Europe.
Nadine Blayney has been covering business and finance news since 2005 when she moved to Australia from her native Canada. In 2007 Nadine was part of the launch team for Sky News Business and has been a driving force in business television ever since.
Nadine is the Head of Content at ausbiz and has been with the business since its inception. At work she leads the editorial team while anchoring the daily markets coverage.
