UTS in Practice: AICC Entrepreneur Breakfast

‘Refugees and Social Business’

26 April 2017

The AICC in partnership with UTS Business School, Swaab Attorneys & Chefin’ were delighted to host a “Refugees and Social Business” breakfast. Anne-Marie Elias, Chief Disrupter at UTS, moderated an inspiring panel: Annie Parker, CEO Lighthouse & Co-Founder, TechFugees Australia; Mahir Momand, CEO, Thrive Refugee Enterprise; and Tim Davies, CEO, Bright Hospitality. Annie spoke about the importance of acting when faced with an opportunity or an idea in the social business realm. Mahir spoke about the drive and importance that refugees have on the economy (who have statistically created more start-ups than any other migrant group after being in Australia for five years or more). Tim spoke about the need to make social benefits more efficient.
